Well, this is the first post of 2012! Woo-hoo! I’m so happy to finally put something up for the first time this year (so sorry it’s been awhile, but it’s been busy!). How was your New Year’s? Well there have been some major changes around here lately as I unveiled the new logo for Be Sweet Bake Shop! What do you think?
I’m very happy with it, and so far the response from our customers have been great as well! I feel that it goes more with the aesthetic and ambiance of the shop: a little “Frenchy” and traditional, but with some fun and flare too. That’s what we’re all about. Someone commented to me that it reminded them of “Ratatouille”–you know that Disney/Pixar film that takes place in Paris and is all about good food and cooking! That was a great compliment–it made me happy. So the website changed a bit, from the logo, to the colors, and even our background a little. And we added a printable menu! How cool is that? You can now download it and keep it on your computer so you don’t always have to go on the computer to see what we’ve got. Or you could print it out and stick it on your fridge (*hint *hint). It is pretty. It will be updated somewhat often as the shop will be expanding and more and more items will be changing or will be added–don’t you just love trying new things? I do, we all do over here, so we hope you do too. One of our exciting soon-to-be-added items will be french macarons (yes, I spelled that correctly in case you were wondering–it’s the French way of spelling it). It’s a delicious French sandwich cookie made from rich meringue (and in any flavor!), filled with a creamy center. It’s good, trust me. There are just some kinks and new flavor combos that are under experimentation now, but they’ll be added soon, so keep a look out!
Anyway, I was so happy to be able to provide some sweet treats for two birthdays this month! It’s always so much fun to have sweets at birthday gatherings/parties–it’s just not the same without them. What’s great about the birthday treats that I provided for my dear friend’s husband, is that since Super Bowl is coming up, you could get some of these themed cookies for the team that you are rooting for (we’ll all know after this Sunday’s games!). Her hubby is a big Raider’s fan, so as a surprise for his birthday, she wanted to give him some Raider’s themed birthday cookies–talk about an awesome present!
So if you’re going to have a Super Bowl party, get your favorite team’s jerseys, helmets, or even just some footballs! Lots of fun, there will be some of these at my house.
The other birthday this month was for a client’s daughter who was turning four years old! She had a cute little party in her classroom, with pink all around. So, I decided a ruffle cake would be perfect since it is definitely girly. The cake was a 6″ fresh strawberry cake with fresh strawberry swiss meringue buttercream, with modeling chocolate decorations. Talk about a cute girly cake–this little pink cake was perfect for the occasion! I also did some mini cupcakes–and this is such a great example of coming up with your own flavor combinations! The client wanted our rich chocolate cake topped with our butter pecan swiss meringue buttercream. Now that is a great flavor combo, sort of like a gourmet version of traditional chocolate and peanut butter flavors. And we make our own butter pecan butter to add to the frosting, and boy-oh-boy is it a yummy frosting! Take a look!

Well, Valentine’s Day is coming up soon, and we already have our decorated sugar cookie collections ready to go for that special loving day.
